Tranquility
The quality or state of being calm. The atmosphere of tranquility comes from feelings of peace, comfort, and a state of being care-free and relaxed by acknowledging the calm in your surroundings.
One method to obtain tranquility is to reduce stress. It is important to know what causes your stress, because it is different from person to person. Once you can identify your stress then eliminate or remove yourself from the situation or environment that causes it. There will be times you will not be able to control the environment, such as on the job or some unforeseen situation like an accident or home emergency. This is when you consider the circumstances from a different perspective. Look at it with new lenses. Refer to Rudyard Kipling’s poem If, “keep your head when all about are losing theirs.” Remember the Serenity Prayer, by Reinhold Niebuhr, “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change and the courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.”
Start each day with moments of relaxation, meditation, stretching, or that morning beverage, whatever works for you. End your days with mentally reflecting on what you are grateful for. Practice visualization of past events that create calmness and/or future events such as an upcoming vacation. Your peace and calm will energize you and set the mood for your day and night.
In this moment of time, take the space you have or make the space to find tranquility each day.
